Yipee! Up and running again! This is going to be a picture heavy post, so sit back, grab a cup of coffee and browse at your leisure!
Since I last updated, Maeghan has been in two dance competitions! Second place in the first one, and 1st place in the second competition! I was one proud mama! She tried really hard to do well, and was a little bit upset when some in her group made mistakes, she frowned at them really hard while still on stage, it was hilarious. I told her she just had to let it go and keep performing because the audience will notice her frowning at the other girls more than any mistakes that they made! Anyways, here she is with her second place medal...
One very happy little girl!
Nothing like eating yogurt in the rain.....
In the last couple of weeks, both of the kids have learned how to ride their bikes without training wheels. Maeghan finally worked up the courage to try it, and she was very nervous and had a few tumbles, but after some encouragement she would try it again until..........bam.........she was going.........(the cape makes you bike faster you know)......Super Girl to the rescue!
Not to be outdone by his older sister, Owen demanded that we take his training wheels off too, and even though I didn't think he would be able to do it, he was up and going the first try! That kid is amazing! After a few weeks of practice we decided to take them along the trails by the river. They are a little bumpier than the kids are used to biking on, and this was the end result...
...a bloody nose, a fat lip, and a scrape on the chin! Poor kid, he went down a pretty steep part, lost control and face planted right in the dirt. Blood was pouring out of his nose, and a first he was pretty shook up, but after a few minutes of recovery time, he climbed right back on and biked all the way home. What a trooper. Everytime we passed someone on the trail they would take a second look at poor Owen's face...it was pretty messy!
In other news, I have a few FO's (finished objects) to show you. First of all is this:
Pattern: Baby Kimono from Mason Dixon Knitting
Hat: My own with some help from the Yarn Harlot's "Knitting Rules"
Yarn: Organic Cotton from Blue Sky Alpaca
Needles: US 6 circulars from Boye (I did not like these needles...but my fancy new Knit Picks Options set (http://www.knitpicks.com/Options+Knitting+Needle+Set_ND90245.html) hadn't come in yet, so I had to slum it!)
I also completed a baby blanket a while ago........
(Sorry Robin, but this was the only picture of the blanket I had! I promise, she really wasn't angry!)
Pattern: Hooded Baby Blanket (without the hood) from Lion Brand Yarn http://cache.lionbrand.com/patterns/cpl-bafg.html?noImages=0
Yarn: Can't remember...something by Patons or Bernat I think........
Hook: Who really cares?
And both of these items were made for this little stinker
My sweet new nephew! Welcome to the world baby Gage!
I was present in the delivery room for most of the labor, but had to leave really close to the end (sniff sniff) because I had no one to get the kids from daycare. I'm so happy to have been invited to be there, it was a really moving experience (even though I didn't get to quite see the finish), and as a result I have a special place in my heart for Gage, it's hard not too, he's so damn cute!
So now the count down begins for the next member of my family to be born...hurry up Connie...I want to meet your baby! And while we wait for him (or her if the ultrasound is wrong), here are some more babies to see.
Baby ducks from the lake near our house...aren't they cute!
